Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) Gearbox
This differential has a mechanism to limit the speed differences between its two outputs (generally, between the two wheels on the same axle). A limited-slip differential ensures that some torque is always distributed to both wheels, even when one has very little traction. Other benefits of the LSD Gearbox are: * The ease of manoeuvrability compared with the normal fixed axle drive. * The downhill retardation (preventing the trolley from running away) * A limited-slip differential ensures that some drive is alwaysd distributed to both wheels, even when one has very little traction. * The trolley has FREE WHEEL capability. If the unthinkable happens and you have to push your trolley back to the Club House, you can put the main drive wheels into 'FREE WHEEL MODE' by operating the 'QUICK RELEASE BUTTONS' on each wheel. Just adjust the wheel outwards to the next groove on the axle so the wheel runs free. How to drive your LSD Trolley When using a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) trolley there are certain characteristics that you should be aware of. As its description states the gearbox unit is a "limited slip" differential and not a "locked" differential, therefore some slipping can occur during operation if one wheel lifts off the ground. This is most likely to happen when traversing a steep slope and/or in wet conditions where there is less friction between the trolley and the course.
The following is a detailed list of how to get the best out of your LSD trolley. When driving your trolley try to ensure that the rear wheels remain in contact with the ground by just tilting the trolley back on to the rear wheels slightly when going across tricky terrain. This helps to ensure that the trolley will not end up balancing on the front wheel and one of the rear wheels, which is a prime condition for slipping to occur. This one simple driving procedure will help with 99% of any potential "slipping" experiences. If the trolley starts to exhibit signs of slipping, back off the power as if additional power is applied this will create more wheel spin. In exactly the same way a car would act if wheel spin was experienced, the driver would have to back off the accelerator to stop this phenomena. On particularly hilly courses it may be advisable to fit pneumatic turf tyres as these offer more grip than the turf protection flexi tyres. With respect to a standard trolley without a differential the golfer will find that the LSD trolley is much easier to manoeuvre, not to mention the total speed/braking control the trolley has downhill. Whereas a normal trolley has to be held back downhill to prevent it running away, LSD driven trolley will be under full control.
NOTE: Tyre pressure should be maintained at 15 psi or 1.0 Bar (2 PLY tyre)
